Patna University
The Patna University came into being by an Act of Legislature on the 1st October, 1917. It is the 7th oldest University to be established in the Indian subcontinent and the first in Bihar. Universities established earlier to Patna University were Calcutta University, Madras University, Bombay University (1857), Allahabad University (1887), BHU and Mysore University (1916).
The University was established as an examining body and conducted examinations right from Matriculation to the Postgraduate classes. Its jurisdiction extended to Bihar, Orissa and Nepal and for decades its inception, this University guided the destiny of these States.

The college aims at preparing the students as a noble, responsible, cultured, disciplined and self-reliant citizens with dedication towards national duties as well as moral values through modern teaching techniques for general and professional courses as stipulated by University Grants Commission.
Placement Cell
There is a Placement Cell in the college with a separate Office. The Cell at present has Dr M N Sinha, Head of Geology Department as its Coordinator. The Placement Cell has been actively seeking the cooperation of various multinational companies and several such companies have conducted placement interviews with high success rate. This Placement Cell is helped by the University Employment and Guidance Bureau.
